About Us.

History:

The company was formed in 1990 by Nick England and Peter Krause and operated for 16 years under the name Krause & England Inc. The name was changed to Apex Vintage Inc in June 2007 as a result of Cecil Boyd acquiring full ownership of the company.

Our new business philosophy starts with the passion we have for the cars that we service and a determination to apply the right skills, expertise, tools and techniques to every job.
The types of cars we specialize in and the services we offer require a very broad and deep base of knowledge. We have an exceptional staff of professionals, each having specialized skills and many years of experience. Individual expertise and the collective knowledge of the team enables us to efficiently diagnose and solve difficult or complex car issues. We welcome all jobs, from simple oil changes to major restorations.

We have re-focused the business around five very specific areas of expertise.

•	Ferrari / Maserati . We are proud to announce that Terry Meeler has joined our staff as Senior Technician and customer liaison for Ferrari and Maserati. Terry is factory trained and has 22 years experience on Ferrari and Maserati automobiles. We have upgraded a section of our shop, added new lifts and purchased the latest computer diagnostic equipment, allowing us to provide complete service to all make and year models of these great cars.

•	Classic Italian, British and German Sports Cars. We have a long history of servicing Alfa Romeo and various other classic Italian cars and will continue to do so. Our expert and long time employee, Rod Atkinson, serves as Senior Technician and customer liaison for Italian sports cars. In addition, we have added British cars to our stable and are proud to announce that Simon Briggs has joined our staff as Senior Technician and customer liaison for British cars. Simon, formerly of Flying Circus English Cars, has over 17 years of professional British car experience. Simon has also been successfully involved in building, preparing and running an MGB race car on the Vintage circuit. We understand these cars inside out and can easily handle any repair, minor or major and can do performance upgrades such as adding superchargers and 5-speed gearboxes.

•	Vintage Race Cars. Vintage racing has been a major component of our business for the past ten years and many members of our staff actively race on the vintage circuit. Because of our growth in both street cars and race cars, we have leased an additional 6000 sq ft. in the building next to us and have moved the entire race car shop and racing operations into the new location. This expansion has allowed us to make upgrades and improvements in the overall facility, allowing us to be more efficient. We specialize in small bore production-based race cars like BMW, Alfa Romeo, Fiat, Lotus as well as purpose-built race cars like sports racers, Sports 2000, Formula Fords, Formula Atlantic’s and Indy Lights. We are a full service shop and can easily handle any task from complete car conversions to aluminum tub fabrication to roll cage fabrication, to basic track prep and car set-up. Dave Blum, expert and long time employee, serves as Senior Race Car Technician for purpose-built race cars. Dave does all of our fabrication work, designs parts and systems for race car conversions and creates graphics for race cars. Suspensions and car set-up are also Dave’s specialty. Rod Atkinson handles most of the track preparation work for production-based race cars.

•	Engine / Gearbox Rebuild Shop. We typically rebuild about 20-30 engines / gearboxes per year, most for racing but for street cars as well. The reliability and performance of these engines and gearboxes are constantly being tested on the race track and our record is impressive. Our extensive knowledge in engine / gearbox rebuilding is very useful in diagnosing complex problems in both street and race cars. Rod Atkinson does all of our engine rebuilding. Rod and Dave share the gearbox work. All engine and gearbox work has been relocated into a 500 sq. ft. clean room within our shop.

•	Transport and Track Support for Vintage Racers. We support twelve vintage races during the year at tracks like VIR, Watkins Glen, Mid-Ohio, Road Atlanta, Road America and Roebling Road. We have the capacity to transport and support ten cars per race. We Offer a full service package allowing customers to simply show up at the track and race the car. We take care of everything else. Our schedule and additional information is available on our website.
